Finland Overview

Finland is a first world country with a church run state. Seventy-one percent of the population are members of the Lutheran state church but only 2% actually attend. Christianity has been present in Finland since the 11th century and the Lutheran Church became prominent in the 16th century. Since the 1970’s the fastest growing religion in Finland has been no religion. Today 26% of the 6 million population are claiming no religious affiliation.
